This development comes on the heels of a recent agreement among key political players including Jana Sena, BJP, and TDP, led by Chandrababu Naidu, regarding seat-sharing for both Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh.
Under the negotiated arrangement, the BJP is slated to contest six Lok Sabha and 10 Assembly seats, while the TDP aims for 17 parliamentary and 144 state seats. Jana Sena, led by Pawan Kalyan, secured two Lok Sabha and 21 assembly seats. TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu confirmed this allocation post-meeting, which was facilitated by Senior BJP leader and Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.
With 25 Lok Sabha and 175 Assembly seats up for grabs, this allocation marks a significant departure from previous electoral dynamics. Jana Sena’s allocation adjusted to 21 assembly and two Lok Sabha seats following TDP’s recent inclusion in the NDA fold.
The upcoming 2024 polls will witness the three parties collaborating for the first time, indicating a departure from the 2014 scenario where TDP and BJP formed an alliance, with Jana Sena providing external support.
Both the TDP and Jana Sena have already unveiled the names of 100 candidates, with Naidu hinting at further candidate announcements in the pipeline.
Efforts are underway within the TDP to invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi to an election meeting, tentatively scheduled between March 17 and 20. Sources indicate that Modi’s participation would likely see him share a stage with Naidu and Kalyan, a rare occurrence with significant implications.
This development not only underscores the evolving political dynamics in Andhra Pradesh but also sets the stage for a closely watched electoral battle. As candidates gear up and alliances solidify, all eyes are on the unfolding narrative leading up to the polls, with implications that could reverberate far beyond the state’s borders.
